RAL no for Epoxy Primer

Hi I wish to respray my MGA after taking it back to bare metal.
I've been recommended Letchler products including epoxy primer. My question is what Ral no. do I need for the primer if the colour coat is Iris Blue ? The only info I can find is below different manufactures have different systems

Normal mid grey would be fine, but you could always have a look at a RAL colour chart such the link below and choose a blue close to your Iris Blue.

RAL is indeed a colour chart. Lechler epoxy primer comes untinted, you can have it tinted to your choice.

grey primer will be fine for blue, I wouldn't go for a colour too close the to top coat you may think it has covered well when infact the top coat is too thin and may fail in the future

White or cream under BU12 as it is a light color, black trim ? how much rust was there the last twin cam A we painted was a nightmare with rust, & that was a long time ago.

I tint all my primers to the topcoat colour as the stonechips don't show so bad.

Thank you all for the tips. The doors, bonnet, boot, are Aluminum. i was going to strip it, Scotthbright it , then epoxy prime , there are slight ripples in the alloy, should these be pressed out first or filled after the epoxy ? I was going to do these first as I'm not that experienced as the steel panels may prove more challenging with rust pitting etc.

No definitely don't do that, you will mess up the chemistry. It is tinted at the mixing stage by the supplier.

Plastic Padding Ultima, easy to get from Halford and not expensive. Much better than P38

+1 and Upol dolphin glaze for finer bits. You can find smaller pouches of the stuff rather than a big tin if your on budget and it goes a long way.

Many years ago I bought a couple of large syringes filled with 'pure dye' colourant in red and blue which were allegedly miscible with all paint types from water-based to oil-based to 2K. I've only tried it on a couple, but there have been no problems so far. It's surprising just how little can change the shade of a base colour to give the results you want. Although similar types are still available they come in tints rather than solid colours so aren't as economical in practice.

I was impressed with Dolphin Glaze. £7.49 delivered from Metalflake, which was the cheapest I could find it. I really wanted to try Upol Fantastic as it seems very highly rated but could only find huge tins.
