To many it’s a pile of scrap,to me ,lovely piece of Victorian manufacturing.
I'd feel sorry for a transit with that sitting in the back!
View attachment 235979 last month,our neighbor had one of 2or3 of these CI pier bases dragged out of the river,it was a single track line so not wide... until you get close,the huge oak tree that came down in those continuous floods had dislodged it,and now the water levels so low,it’s hazardous to canoeing,some of you may remember my photos of the floods and said oak tree.

They have lorries with Hiabs nowadays, much easier to nick stuff and pull barriers out.
They have had those for a while. Lost a 2000 gal stainless vessel in 1998. Nobody saw a thing!
