last month,our neighbor had one of 2or3 of these CI pier bases dragged out of the river,it was a single track line so not wide... until you get close,the huge oak tree that came down in those continuous floods had dislodged it,and now the water levels so low,it’s hazardous to canoeing,some of you may remember my photos of the floods and said oak tree.
To many it’s a pile of scrap,to me ,lovely piece of Victorian manufacturing.

Don’t know abound the others as it was quite an operation,very steep bank,this ones a display piece,it sits on the base of the road crossing as the main road ran along the bank ,as soon as the railway crossed the river,it then spanned the road,so it will remain there as a display.
Reminds me of a large steam hammer.

They have lorries with Hiabs nowadays, much easier to nick stuff and pull barriers out.

Need a few more than normal table spoons of citric acid to de-rust that.

They have lorries with Hiabs nowadays, much easier to nick stuff and pull barriers out.

They have had those for a while. Lost a 2000 gal stainless vessel in 1998. Nobody saw a thing!

Back in about 2005 the thieves stole a lorry fitted with a lorry loader crane, from outside that place it had fitted. The customer was due to collected that following day.
They then used the crane to reach over and load up 4 more lorry loader cranes and drive off.
No one saw a thing.
