I bough the chop saw version for £150 if I remember correctley.

It works well on 2 mm RHS, 3 mm is ok. Even chopped 6mm flats fine.

It has tackeld 30mm bar slowly. Must have done 200 cuts on the blade now & its starting to dull. Next time I will opt for the steel cutting blade.

The Rage saws are much better than Fury. I use my Rage chop saw for some quite fine work and it makes a quite good cut which does not need a lot of cleaning up. Now about 2 - 3 years old on the original blade. Used it on most sections even scaffold tube with no problems. Just make sure you have a good power supply. The saw does not have soft start and I kept popping b curve breakers changed to d curve now no probs.

The only down side I know of is the fact that the chop saw has a 2 horse motor with no soft start.

yes, i hate the way it cuts. its ok for wood. but when u use it for metal, it does not "cut"....it just hits its way through by chipping off small chunks of metal.

with a normal saw, you can just stand out of the way of sparks, but the rage hits these metal chippings in a 360 degree circle that you cant avoid.

ive had one in my lip. these saws are junk. people love them because of the "one blade cuts everything"....which they do i suppose, but they dont cut accurately.

they DO leave a nasty burr on metal, no matter what it says on the box.

i dont like using mine on metal anymore, excellent saw for wood though.

I have a Rage saw and have cut 40mm box 2mm wall, 20mm x 6mm flat mild steel with no problems.

It does chip away at the metal but i've never had a nasty burr on the metal left by the blade, just needs a quick rub with the file and i've never seen the metal fly arount that badly, yes wear goggles and gloves and it's fine!

Maybe your blade is blunt, missing teeth, or you are pushing the blade through the metal to fast? Worth a check?

I have the rage S210 sliding mitre that I got from screwfix on a previous offer
its in my mind the Dogs B****ks cut fine no burrs and it cuts accurate maybe neils fell of the back of a lorry
Also a conventional chop saw have too high a rpm 5000 against the rage 3000 The dewalt blade cost more than this saw total !!

I have an Evolution Fury saw, and I have never had a cut with a nasty burr left either - I assume the blades are similar if not the same?

I agree 100% about the 360* shrapnel that flies everywhere though! Nasty stuff indeed, and I've had plenty hit me in the lip too! I wear a full face mask when I use it now.

I can't honestly say I hate the thing, but it's certainly not my favourite tool. It takes time to get it set up properly as it cuts ****** all too easily, but once I get it squared up (again ) it's OK. Ish.

Will I buy another one when it breaks? Maybe, maybe not. I could put up with the shrapnel, but I think I'd like a better quality one that stays square. Possibly the Rage would be better, but I quite like the size and weight of the smaller one...

as you can see opinions vary. both for, and against what ive said.

FYI i bought mine brand new, from machine mart. and it hasnt been used enough to blunt the blade.

stucktoweld - a conventional chop saw uses a different cutting method, its of no relevance to compare the rpms of abrasive and toothed blades. In fact, all these saws are far too fast to cut metal properly, hence the comments about bashing the material & bits flying around.

A real mixed bag here. But I have a massive pile of nail-filled wood to chop. Best cheap option?
