I have been looking at these, 160 amp output on tig @ 35% duty cycle, 125 amp output on mma @ 35% seems quite low out put on the mma mode has anyone burnt a few rods with this welder? how did you get on, plenty power for 3.25s thats the largest I would be looking to burn.

I bought the 200amp r-tech, a bit more money but has a better duty cycle than the 160.

Think the 200 is 60% @ 200.

i also have the 200 amp which goes to 160 amps MMA burnt loads of rods on it no problems 3.2s burn fine tbh very good welder

ive used the 160 rtech all day long on 3.2 rods and never had it cut out once .the fan is substancial hence the noise

Thanks for the replies, after speaking to r-tech, the guy was not happy i was going to be using a tig for stick, well more or less thats the impression i got, so just went for the thermal arc 175 amp at a good £140 cheaper.

haha, not quite fancied a good stick work horse with the ability to produce nice starts stops while on the tig, I find the lift arc fine but its the stops which are a pain, if only they would attach a down sloper on these inverters that would be my problem solved. On my last eutectic I had planned to get someone to attach a remote on it for me but never quite got round to it.
