R-tech tig instead of a mig?

I've been thinking, would I be better off with a Tig instead of a mig so I can weld all types of metals?

Mainly kit car builds and car resto(all DIY).

Do thin car panels take well to tig?

Are you looking at a first welder?
I would say go for Mig first, fairly quick to get to grips with. Results lead to confidence.
The look into Tig especially if you are after more than welding steel.
A decent Mig welder will do all the work on cars and kit cars unless you are going very fancy.

if you are repairing things, especially rusty things in awkward places like patching car body work and chassis tig won't be great, if you are making things it's the best process, cleanest, welds all materials pretty much, you can arc weld with tigs too, only thing is it's also the slowest and uses a lot of argon so pretty much the most expensive too, it really depends what you will be doing with it.

Yes - I've got one! Nice machine in my opinion, but also having a MIG (SIP at that...) - although I've not tried much on the car itself with TIG, as said before, it wants to be clean and the fit-up of the joint excellent for good results. For upside down work under the car or in hard to reach places, MIG using the thin-welding-technique is probably best suited. If it were making up say, a new kit car chassis from new material, I'd probably consider TIG as it is neater.

Being AC mine can weld aluminium, but in truth you could save a lot going DC if aluminium isn't going to be a need for you. I just wanted it for the options of knocking up an intercooler/aluminium intake pipework and a bit more flexibility. Like making my XBox kinect bracket from scrap ally sheet. The welding was meant to look like an artistic mess. No really. It has nothing to do with my ability.
