R Tech MIG 180 vs JASIC Pro MIG 160

Evening folks,

So I am looking to buy myself my first welder. Pretty much narrowed it down to the two in the title, links below:

Now the JASIC really is the very top end of my budget but if the general consensus is that it is worth it then I will bite the bullet so to speak. I'd rather spend more and have something which lasts that bit longer.

What justifies the price difference between the two, is the JASIC going to have a better quality wire feed? Capability at lower current for welding very thin stuff?

The wire feed look much the same as my R-tech mig 180 from the pics, but that Jasic does look smaller and lighter with a longer warranty. But you can always extend a R-tech one for an extra 2 years anytime as long as it's in the original 2 years, think it was about £68 to do mine if I wanted..

Really like my R-tech but cant say I've ever used the Jasic.

never used either heard car lads rave about the jassic sets on low amp stuff though. Wilkinson Star offered me a test of a few but I am a lot closer than you are

I have the R-tech 180 and was also going to say the wire feed looks the same (although the motor might not be?). R-tech also sell "shop spoiled" ones which are cheaper, mine was although not sure why as it never had a mark on it, and still has the 2 year warranty.
I would say it depends what are you using it for? The R-tech is a good welder, far better than the hobby mig's which I have had, but it's not as good as the professional machines I have used at college. I would say the 180 is a semi professional machine. And I would also guess the extra money Jasic are asking for is the 10A setting. Although I can't say I would find 10A that useful, 20A - 170A would probably be better. The R-tech will weld 22gauge.

X1 I have the r tech not used it much, it is for portable use but seems to weld ok. The guys at rtech are very helpfulI also got a shop soiled one exactly as ^^^^^

I have been looking at these migs too. I would say the jasic is a better quality machine. I'm going to have a look at one in the next few weeks. Are you intending to do some stick welding or require the welder to be portable? If not I would look at the oxford mig maker as it looks a quality machine and a good price. I'm torn between the two.

Well I went for the R Tech in the end, have to say I am very pleased. Puts a nice quality weld down and easy enough for an amateur like myself to use!
