Quicky tube bender

For a hand rail, I needed a 50cm radius quarter turn bit of 34mm tube. Just the one bit.
The press normally is used to swage wire rope fittings. For this use I made a shoe for the ram and two grooved rolling gate wheels.
The curve is formed by short pushes every 25mm. After the first pass I checked the curve and completed it on a second pass.
The jack is a 20t, but a 5t wouild have done it. Total time to run up the bits and form the curve was about 1 1/2 hrs.

Might have got it right, second pic is the rail The curve is to allow a shutter to open next to the terrass.

Good! it works. Emboldened by this I will put up a few more home grown tools.

The design is an extension of an existing one circa 1960. But here is one I did for a local interior designer. She has really nice ideas and has converted part of her house as a rental flat or Gite. The area is a mezzanine for the kids to sleep. I gave her a couple of conventional designs, which she sniffed at, and this, which hit the spot. She also now understands the word 'Funky'

Stuvy, If you do, use some RSJ. This one is made of channel and, if you look carefully, the top section is bent. Bit too enthusiastic with the 20t jack on 5mm wire swages.

Just noticed Gorden, it is the interior designer! Her 'Partner' is a landscape gardener. But in a previous life, he used to cook. 'I ad sum intersting coostemers. Meester Jaams Maison and Reechard Boorton.' Very entertaining couple. And helped me move on into other fields.
