From a newbie.....for all the fantastic info and advice on this forum,following a lot of reading on here,bought a portamig 215,from Turtle,thanks Brian,brand new,his loss my gain.....and then a not cheap speedglas 9100xx(thought I,d give myself the best chance possible,mate came round and helped me set up for some practice runs on some scrap 2mm plate,he was very impressed,prefers it to his migatronic!!I ran a few practice runs,he was happy with the penetration so then set up and ran a few *angle fillets*it really is very smooth,run out of scrap so will be off to grab some more practice sheet,inc some thinner stuff,will post up some results for dissection by the experts,once I have a more presentable bit of plate to photo,with some cuts through section(got carried away with this bit and and welded some tube to it,then washers,basically anything I could find of differing thicknesses,to try out) ,I'm sure once left to my own devices I will start cocking things up,but so far loving it
