Quick question

Hi guys this has probably been a question asked alot but I can't find a definitive answer on it.

I'm making up a exhaust for my car in stainless steal. I have a mig welder, and I also have someone who can tig it up for me. The exhaust is going to be trial and error fit so

The question is can I tack weld stainless with a mig welder with a mild steal wire? So I can set it all up and then pass it over to my friend to tig weld properly

You can but the migged part will rust. Best to get some stainless wire for the mig

But then technically you need stainless gas too. It was either langy or hotrodder that said they tell people to tack up with mild steel wire and bring it to them to tig. then the welder can just grind the tacks out once startng welding.

I have had stuff in stainless tig'd by the welder in work and I always tack with mild steel mig wire once its all in shape.

then, the tig guy makes his own tacks with his stainless filler, grinds mine out and then welds it up

I use Argoshield Lite with stainless wire on my mig.
