Question: Welding an old ditch bucket

Hello, I have an old ditchbucket that im going to repair before reusing it as it recently broke down. I work as a welder and I know how to weld therefor my only question is if the fluxcord I have is suitable for this weld.

Will the Oerlikon Citroflux R00

Be suitable for repairing this old ditchbucket ? (image is attached to the post )

Cordsize, volt and amperage will ofc be adapted correctly for the materialthickness and preheating will also be done before welding on the thickest material.. Im just unsure if the cord can be used on this steel.

Would agree with the above...

Has the bucket got thin on the edge? Plenty of weld on (inside and out). Then build the edge up.

Not a five minute job! It may supprise you how long it takes and how much wire you use.

I think im going to preheat it and use a pulley to drag it together then put some rebar inbetween the remaining opening and weld it together my only fear is that the R00 cord wont handle the pressure when digging with the bucket and then snap again.

I got quite a distance left of trenching probably 50meters and this bucket is all i can get my hands on for the job. I also have some oerlikon M8 cord but as far as i know this cord is only good for the first line of weld.

The terrain is also kind of rugged its on the Norwegian mountainside with alot of gravel, stones and slough

That's one rough bucket! use anything and slap a load of plate on. Pre-heats etc.? All a waste of time IMO its had it so spend minimum time fixing it. A proper fix and its better to make a new one

I'd just stick some decent plate on as best you can and it should do. I've never bothered pre-heating these things, I know you say you have to deal with rugged terrain but 50m isn't exactly like it is going to be in solid use for years to come in a hard working environment!

Can't speak much for the wire though, never had the luxury of a MIG big enough on these jobs!

Probably worth welding a new cutting edge on if the going is tough as you say. Hardox blade cross sections are available
