Question for Weldequip...

Morning Steve, I am on a welding college at Waltham Forest College and intend doing mainly Vehicle Restoration type welding work in the future, now the College have bought a load of new Migtronic MIG welders and are looking to punt out 4 of their previous MIG welders for sealed bids...the four welders in question are...

1] A SIP Automig 180
2] Murex 160/180 [not sure which but one of them...lol]
3] Murex 230
4] Migtronic 160/180

...now our Lecturer reckons bids around the £90-£110 mark might get us one of these machines, and they are in pretty good condition....so what do you think mate..worth it, or should I just put that money into a "Buy Swampy a Portamig 180" fund that I'm trying to start within my family circle...
Any help would be greatly appreciated dude...funnily enuff they also have a pair of Lincolns sitting to one side that no-body uses as they have had so much grieve with them that they were fed up with having to have somebody out to repair/look at them that they have just pushed them to one side and let them gather dust...

Buy all of them mate, for that sort of money they're a good deal. Test them till you find your favourite and then punt the others on ebay!

I'm sure he would if he had £500. But then if he had £500 he would just go about buying a Portamig 180.

Of course I would like to sell you a new Portamig but not for £110!!
Sealed bids are usually a con & you will probably find one of the college staff gets the lot!
If you intend to do mostly car bodywork go for the Migatronic as they are excellent on thin sheet. The SIP Autoplus 180 were a decent machine in comparison to the current stuff but I would let your lecturer have that one!

...lmao...did not expect a Portamig for £110 mate... ...just wondered whether to buy one of these or put the money towards a Portamig... ...probably pull them all out from under the stairs next week and give them a good once over...oooooo decisions...although the chance of saving for a nice new [with warranty] Portamig is very appealing to... ...lmao...!!!
