I want to nickel plate an air rifle barrel and action.
what kit do I need for this? how hard is it to get it right first time?
the rifle is all mild steel, has had all blueing removed, all un-needed threaded holes have been drilled out and filled with a mild steel plug and tig welded with mild steel wire.
it is as clean as clean can be, all seals removed, I will need to make 2 bungs to block both ends of the barrel, and need a tight fitting shaft to protect the inside of the action so need to know the best material for these to be made from as I cant have any contamination inside the action at all as it has a very fine knurl to retain grease and everything inside is a perfect fit at the moment and I want to keep it that way.
nickel plating is very common in air rifles but the model I am doing doesn't come with nickel as an option so hopefully there aren't going to be many of them around
if it helps, I already have all the kit for anodising, power supply, acid, lead cathode, big plastic tub and extraction
