Thats the one....they will be OK for garden gates etc....maybe not the easiest to use but if the price is rightYes Chrome Moly and marked A5.5 AWS
Essentially what is the purposes of this rods?Thats the one....they will be OK for garden gates etc....maybe not the easiest to use but if the price is right
That group (CrMo) are known as CREEP RESISTANT which means they dont sag when heated.....if a pipe was made from mild steel and then used to move steam it would sag between its supports or if flat to the ground it could eventually go elliptical......the CrMo stiffens the steel and stops this happeningSo what is the rods marked B2 or B3 able to be used on then apart from their main purpose?
The A5.5 is the spec and the B2/B3 is the group within that spec........the B2/B3 are creep resistant steel but apart from that they can also be used for non critical mild steelSo your last entry is that relevant to the A5.5 or the B2/B3 rods?
What does AWS stand for by the way?
Another thing that everyone should check is if on the rods are certified by the most important authorityAmerican Welding Society

As Rina, loyd registered, (I don't think I wrote right),AWS , EN ISO ,CE etc
For example my Lincoln 7018 025P are not registered?
What?
Just codes but not approved
Let's check my citoflex box and my cemont box
Citoflex are approved by
Rina Ispeslab NV (Norsh Veritas again don't know if I wrote right) and FS
They are expensive to obtain and maintain and manufacturers often choose not to gain the approval so they can sell them cheaper.....
There are other considerations as well............Yep. Which is where a £20 pack of rods becomes £100 in the case of some Filarc rods.
