Quality studding (threaded bar)

The readily available lengths of studding (both 30cm and one metre) seems to be of pretty poor quality. are there grades for studding as in bolts and set screws etc? I've had a look on the internet but have not found anything to suggest that there is anything better than the diy stuff.

The bog standard cheapy studding is grade 4.6 usually.

8.8 and 10.9 are available, but from the more specialist engineering/fastening suppliers.

I have bought what I think they call 'high tensile' studding from my local fastener place? I'm not sure what grade it is but it's definitely better than the stuff from B&Q etc. They have a big range of sizes as well (I think I have some 24mm somewhere). My local place is only an ordinary fastener place so I would think your local suppliers would have the same?

yep the DIY sheds buy cheap sell dear. Go to an industrial fastenings place as said. my FIL just made a spring compressor out of BQ allthread it sure was low grade stuff
