Putting down a line of filament, pre-print

How does one go about doing that at the start of every print? The Creality did it, as does the Elegoo, (front left corner of the bed), but the Anycubic doesn't. The line of filament they throw down to get rid of any crap, & make sure they start printing with a good flow of filament.

It's bugging me trying to figure it out, & I'm guessing I'll be overlooking some setting or such which is blatantly obvious.

It is down to the slicer software.

No way to add it in manually?

You could add a bit of G code to the default slicer output (most slicers will have a section which allows this)

Something like:

G90 ; Set absolute positioning
G92 E0 ; Reset extruder position
G1 X50 Y50 Z0.2 F1200 ; Move to start point (X50, Y50, Z0.2) at 20 mm/s
G1 X60 Y50 E0.4 ; Extrude 0.4 mm filament while moving to X60
G1 E-0.2 ; Retract filament slightly to prevent oozing

Or just create a model of a single line, export it as a .stl and drop it onto the print bed.

Not sure if your slicer has the option, but you could add a skirt to the print. A skirt usually prints around the print but not touching and can be used to make sure the extruder is primed before starting the print. if it has the option you usually can define how outlines and how far it prints from the part being printed

All the slicers I have used can put a skirt down, although it claims that it is an "adhesion" aid which is stretching the facts a little.

A brim is better for adhesion as its joined to the first layer of the print but will need some cleanup after printing.

I would figure out the default slicer settings so it does the line on all prints. What slicer are you using? I use Orca slicer which seems to be one of the main ones and works well for me on my Flashforge.

It's Orca which both the Elegoo & Anycubic use, but it's their own version of it, which has been twiddled with.

If I knew how to export/extract config files from Orca for those printers, I'd just run them both on standard Orca.
