Wire wool is a great defuser as is scotch brite.

Stuffed a standard 12 cup with that to imitate a gas lens

I have a few of these I came by for sealing up pipes prior to welding. Pump them up with a cycle pump and they will expand to about twice the size. Can't remember where I got them but they have been useful for odd jobs over the years.

I have a drawer load of purge dams, caps etc made or collected over the years, also have a fancy self inflating one for use on long pipe runs.
