Pump Motor replacement

Hi, I'm trying to replace the motor for a pump but the new motor has a different wiring configuration and two extra wires (black and red). I was wondering if anyone knew the possible purpose of these two extra wires as there's no wiring diagram and I'm finding little information online. There's two black wires and a ground entering from the pump (not pictured). Thank you!

There is too little info to go on. What was the motor described as in the original advert/listing? it would be best to try to get connection information from the supplier. Also, take a look at:

Look inside the lid you removed to expose the wiring. That's where you usually find the connection diagram.

I don't really know much about this stuff, and I can't see what's going on in your photo, but -

If they're just internal wires, can't you just leave them be?

A guess -

Your old motor may have had a start / run cap and the new unit has a start cap with a centrifugal switch? That would account for more wires.
