Pulsing machine?.

Gentlemen, oops sorry People, A couple of weeks ago I ventured into this site for advice on wire feed problems, since then I have opened an account with BOC, for argon light, instead of using pub gas or rubbish from elsewhere, the little bottles just don't last, any way to get to the point. My machine is playing up a little, in that when I am welding, (still only practicing) it seems to pulse and stop welding for a fraction of a second, causing a truly rubbish weld. Am I imagining the pulsing and I am just to rubbish for words or may this be really happening. Well people your input would be appreciated.

Worth trying swapping the tip if you've a spare one around.

Fred, Ive just re read you post from a couple of weeks ago, I assume that you have followed the advice regarding the torch and neck liners, and the wire feed settings, if so i wonder if there is a problem with the switch circuit in the torch or the harness, as you did say that moving the torch had a effect (Quote, if the torch is moved whilst the trigger is continued to be activated, the wire shoots out at a pace), why not temporarily take the tension of the feed roller to stop the wire ,then press and hold the torch trigger while twisting and moving the lead and torch around, if it stops and starts the feed motor it points to a break or loose connection in the harness or torch or a faulty trigger.

Thanks for such a speedy reply, it ticked all the box's and as I spedto the workshop to try it, I realised I had not mentioned that the wire feed torch problems were sorted thanks to a torch and liner service kit from weldquip.
I slackened off the wire feed tensioner and started the welder (Cebora 130 Pocket turbo). It ran without interruption with the torch moving and with it still, I turned the feed speedthrough the entire band and still did not waver from running smoothly. Bloody good idea thuogh, thanks again fred.

Well at least we know its not that then, I reckon its probably still wire feed playing up, probably at the drive roller, or possibly as fingers says the contact tip, also check that the wire reel is free to turn , from memory the drive roller on those ceboras is quite small in diameter it doesn't take much to make it slip, I have a pocket mig that was given to me some years ago, Its never really been used, because compared to a "real" welder its just too much trouble.

I just thought, what about the earth? Don't know about the quality of the clip on those machines, but some form of intermittent contact would/could have bad effects.
