Just picked up the shop-soiled R-Tech MTS255 off ebay, we'll see how it works out.
I was after an inverter mig to replace my transformer machine that I've had for 15 years - it's great, but isn't particularly powerful (120a) and takes up a huge space in the workshop. I also fancied something that would do stick, and would have a program for CuSi3, or at least an aluminium program I could trim to suit. I spoke with R-Tech and they had experience running CuSi3 so thought I'd give it a go.
I'd narrowed the choice down to:
EWM Picomig - the top-of-the-wish-list machine, but not quite powerful enough (I really wanted 200A) and big £££. I'm sure it would have been amazing and would be the first choice if I was a professional.
Esab Caddy 200 - doesn't do stick, fixed torch
GYS 190.2 with the new CuSi3 program - looked good, compact, rubbish duty cycle, doesn't do stick
Warrior 250 from Phil Weeks, looked powerful but a bit too big.
We'll see how the new machine works out. If it's anything like the 201AC/DC I've had for over 2 years, I'm sure I'll be happy with it.
Expect a review coming soon...
