I have a new design climbing device i want to test before i commit my life to it, and some rigging kit.
Crane scale was an option but id be looking at £500+ for the size i want.
Premade 20kn loadcell is getting over £1000 a little rich for my liking.
The next best option is a diy build, an Arduino and other components are peanut's the 2000kg load cell was £60.
First part of the puzzle is the programming, im no c++ wizzard but i can remember bits from years ago, after 3 hours i had a working box of electronics. Another 3 on top for refinement
With this i can change the calibration factor for upto 4 loadcells, go from newtons to grams and record the max reached number.
Next part the hardware i needed two sizeable eye bolts, i could have bought two eye bolts and bolted straight to the load cell.
This isn't a bad option but it doesn't prevent overloading the cell come next week ill have the case finished which will offer protection from that.
This is as far as i am, more to come
