Hi everyone, recently took the plunge an bought a welder, albiet a 2nd hand one. But got a good price an in good condition. One problem... It has a 'pub' style regulator. I plan on doing a fair bit of welding in the coming months, so i need to know where, locally too me i can get a pub bottle, either full or empty an where to fill it... This website has been so helpfull so far, so help on this topic would be greatly appreaciated. Regards Gaz

pub gas..? HELP

You can get a bottle of CO2 gas from anywhere, the fitting will be the same. It's a different fitting if you use one of the argon CO2 mixes.
Try one of the regular gas suppliers, or even one of that rent free people online (I've used welding gases.co.uk before) - but you tend to get stung on courier costs. Other alternative is to look up your local auto factor, often they are an agent for the rent free people and you can probably pick one up there.
Best of course is a friendly local landlord.

I get my bottles of CO2 from my local Calor Gas agent.
I pay around £12-15 for a bottle which seems to last for quite a while.
No rental or any other charges involved, just turn up, pay the money and walk away with a bottle of gas.
I would suggest you do a Google search for a Calor Gas agent near to you.
