ProXL Xpress505 2k Clear coat

I had not realised there was so much choice and variation between clears. Until now, I had thought they were long slow cure unless you have the facility to bake the part.

My local paint shop only had one option in the smalller 1.5L quanitity. Pro XL Xpress505, its got a much faster cure than I expected, and doesnt appear to have many disadvantages. Has anyone got experience of it?

My problem is I"m using a tent to keep dust and bugs off, and in the sun its heating upto 35c so will need to wait until late afternoon or evening for it to cool off. It may be a pain later in the year when temps wont drop that low!

Are you sure that's not a water based cc?
Those drying times are suspiciously short for solvent based.

Water based clear coat? I was under the impression that water based tech was only for base coats. From both SDS docs, it looks very much solvent based to me.

These are for smart repairs in cold weather. The downside to it (in addition to what you have found) can be gloss drop over time and reduced durability.

Next time, try a different shop or order online. Maybe a clear with fast hardener - what you have got would be classed as ultra fast.

Interesting, I looked up the details and it is still 12% VOC solvents.
