Protection from welding fumes

Guys. Can I get all your input on what you use for protection against welding fumes?
Professional full-time welders such as Richard would mainly really like your input. Interested whether you all wear an airfed mask everyday, rely on workshop ventilation system, small breathing mask,
Just leave the doors open and dont bother if it's the odd job.
I work in an very large drafy workshop and sometimes just put my little eclipse mask on under my welding mask but not welding everyday. Probably 6 hrs a week maybe average? Sometimes outside
I am wondering if I should be worried about fumes etc and would like to know what you are all doing.
My mate has been a welder and burner for 40 years (shipyards) and combined with smoking says he did alot of damage to his lungs.

For stick welding a big fan to blow it all away is good, for welding with tig or mig a big 3 pipe extractor system is what we have at uni and that meets the H&S spec

Weldings not my main game although I do a lot of welding and burning some weeks, I got myself a Adflo system off a member on here and since looking at the state of the filters which are mounted on a belt out by your lower back after a week of use I wouldn't be without it.

Airfed screens are the wayforward

I do have an old airfed mask (which I inherited, no way would the boss supply us with them) that I use sometimes mostly when my glasses are steaming up but a lot of the time it's too bulky and gets in the way. Other than that it's down to the large size of the workshop and it's general draughtyness.

When we weld for long periods we use our Adflo systems and have 2x large Nedderman fume extractors set up around the welding bay.

i have no less that 3 nederman fume extractor units with motors on them and four arms for them.
all sitting on a pallet...
and on top of that i have 3m's best example of their air fed mask adflow thingy.
sitting in its original box in its bag that hasnt seen out since i got it 12 mths ago.
so for now im using esab's finest example of an auto mask and staying up wind.

if there was two of me id get all this stuff sorted in half the time...

Adflos are brilliant, obviously cleaning the air you breathe, but in summer they are a godsend, when your covered in sweat and slowly cooking yourself they direct a cooling gentile breeze over your brow...

i did try it out the day i got it and yes, its a mighty job.
mind you, a warm or hot summer is something that i can only dream of over here, its prety much first line defence here.
i used to weld a right bit of rsj but i stopped a lot of it 10mths ago odd so i havnt had any major call for it yet, its not something youd wear for the 5 min welding jobs id often be at but if i was going doing a days welding id put it on.
