A close mate of mine had a nasty interface with a router z few weeks ago; losing the top half of his right thumb.
One of those stupid moments of innatention that you'll never forget.
I'm fairly creative and good at fixes and adaptations. So I figured I'd do my bit to help.

I do have a few other ideas but figured best see how life enhancing these are first.

I'd take the 10mm spanner off that second one otherwise he's likely to loose the whole arm...

Screwdriver attachment would be handy, the thumb is the ideal location for it too

I'd laugh at first, and later use them against you TBH
Maybe little bit too early for joking about.
I'd take it personally and it's still enough traumatic he will probably get upset many times because the thumb is pretty important articulation without it the hand is pretty much useless.
Just make sure he's in the mood for jokes before.

Where you’ve gone wrong is you should have used a ring spanner

Maybe one of those quick change adapters, like on Milwaukee sawzalls etc?

Then a range of different attachments.

Cooking breakfast? The spatula attachment...

Horseback? The jousting attachment...

Etc.

But enough nonsense now
