I've got a garden shredder that is useless as a shredder. It has a single phase, 240v motor, 1800W I think and runs fine. Its just that it jams if you try to feed anything other than the tiniest twigs in and if you do feed it anything smaller that the tiniest twigs they clog it up.

Not being one to throw things away I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for what I can make from it?

when u find a use tell me will u our lass bought one . god knows why all bushes round our house are large hawthorne i can burn the bloody suff in me back field DONT LET WOMEN WATCH QVC OR JML they cost u money

have you tried putting something easier to shred thru it? might work ok on chavs?

Take it back to B&Q, say it wont cut butter
Did just that on a repo saw

dont want a crappy electric leaf blower atall do u avent even got any trees round the house and have a gravel drive its not even much cop for a furnace

That's what I should have done, but its been sitting in the shed for a few years now

Sharpen the cutters and see if you can eBay it as used working.

The motor will usually be in an integrated housing that is the plastic body ( not the feed chute ) and therefore is not much use for anything sadly .

I thought of ebaying it, but there seem to be lots on there that don't sell

it would be an excuse to make a press.

Contemplated similar when items are replaced under warranty several times in that period but go from original purchase date.
Buy a new one if the same.
Take old one back
Get a replacement
Sell one
Take a new one back for credit.

If it is the rotating blade type, like my Bosch 1800w shredder (which does work very well, BTW!) you could turn it upside down, cut it down, add a new frame and some wheels and handles and you have a lawn mower! If it can't handle twigs, might cope with grass.

I have a simmillar spec cheap shredder, I find it's alright for "twiggy" type stuff up to about an inch thick but is no use for branches with a lot of greenery

They have to be really sharp to work properly, one stone or a bit of gravel and the blades are done for. I have a much bigger one and need to sharpen the blades every other use to keep it working well.
