Product Locating...Steel Tube

Hi guys,

Not exactly for welding, but for a project I'm currently doing.

I'm using some 50.8mm OD tube as a down tube, however, I am looking for some tube that will fit over this, so I assume 51mm ID.

Problem is, I cannot currently find a supplier for this.

I've sent emails off to quite a few companies, and spoke to almost all of the Steel Suppliers in and around Scunthorpe to no avail.

I'm after any offcuts available over 100mm in length, ideally a total length of 3000mm would be great, but at the moment I'll take whatever is on offer.

Can anyone help with a supplier, or even offcuts they may have lying around?

cant you make some sleeves to do the job if the size you need is unavailable and plug weld them into whatever you can get

have you tried Aalco cause they normally stock alot of diffrent stuff

I could make some sleeves, but I want to be lazy for a change, haha.

There's quite a bit of welding on the project already, so if I can get around have to make anything else it would be great.

is the pipe for an exhaust system ?

I would think 2 inch british standard pipe would be around 51mm ID.

The steel is to fabricate a hanging bracket for a screen array, sound and lighting stuff. Unfortuately, there aren't any manufacturers of this kind of thing, so I'm looking into doing it myself. Before April!

No carbon steel at Aalco but pretty much everything else stainless and non ferrous. Closest i suspect would be something like the 57.15 x 2.64 or 3.25 wall in Busa's link i.e. slightly over or undersized on the ID. Depending on the level of fit needed either slightly sloppy or needs light machining, the 3.25 wall has an ID of 50.65 (+/-so if 100mm lengths would be suitable not much work assuming access to a lathe

there are companys that make and sell trussing penn fabrication being one of them but that type of gear is expensive. when mounting pa gear and lighting its is refered to as flying it.

I was after three izes of tubing that would be as near a sliding fit as possible for giant ants legs. I spoke to a guy called Darryl. Very helpful.

How about inside? 1 7//8" x 18swg is a nice fit in 2" x 20swg with powder coating. W/A

Jetex sell component parts ,maybe someone more local to you......jetex straight pipe....they also sell straight couplers etc ...2" mild steel.i bought a tool to swage pipe £20 (haven't tried it yet)....

Well, if you had some 2 1/4" OD 1/8" wall that might do it, but unless the tube you have is seamless, it's unlikely to be round.
