i bought a large reel of welding wire from this shop and i can not get proper penetration with it, no matter what setting i have the welder on, i got a professional welder to test it and he says there is a problem with the wire, i have had one response back from the shop but no further corrispondence since 26/11/2010, anybody else had any problems with the wire, or is it just me

Follow up with it, you could also take it back and get them to show you that it does what it is supposed to do otherwise if they can't, then ask for an exchange with a different batch or brand. They may be following up on it with the manufacturer which may take time, but that is not your concern, they need to resolve this for you now.

I find it hard that the wire is at fault. What dia wire and what machine are you running it on?...Bob

try another make of wire , buy a small roll then if alls well with your welder and it makes a diffrence u know its the wire then complain

I honestly can't believe that wire made by one of the world's leading welding equipment companies is 'faulty', no way Jose!
If a cheapo reel is badly wound it can cause erratic feeding but Lincoln stuff should be spot on.
We need to know the make and model of your machine, wire diameter, what gas, what power setting, as someone has said, what size tip etc. Your post is way too vague at the mo.

i am using the0.6 wire, i have the correct tip in, my welder is a
wolfweld 140 combination gas/gasless mig welder 30-135amp brand new, using co2 and tried it on all settings and metals,
i have bought another reel from a different supplier and this works fine, i must say i did respool some of it as it was not happy with the full 5kg reel as it seemed to be struggling, i was lucky that i found a local proffessional welder who has been helping me to learn to weld, i was advised by him to buy the larger reel due to the cost, he has been over and he was the one that said it was the wire,,,, i will try welding with what is left on the original reel to see if it is the respooled reels that are at fault

To be honest respooling is not a good idea. I believe the drives on those Wolf machines are not the best so the combination of respooling and the machine could be the cause of the problem.
