Problem with wire feed

Hi all, I'm new to this forum, so please forgive me if I don't follow the rules.

I have an SIP 140 mig welder, and have just started using it again after having not used it for some time.

I have a roll of 0.8mm fluxed wire in it, and a tip to suit.

I have the feed roller set to 0.8mm and a brand new liner in the lance.

The problem I have is that the wire seems to get tight in the lance, and the feed wheel slips over the wire, so it becomes impossible to weld. I have tried adjusting the tensioner on the feed wheel but to not avail.

The wire feeds perfectly through the tip, so I've cancelled that out of the question, and the brand new liner should have cancelled out any other problem. The reel rotates freely also, so I'm completely stuck for ideas, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that someone might know the answer?

Did you replace the swan neck as well?

the old bits of plastic liner get caught in the wire swan neck liner and act like hot glue.

weldquip at the top of the page or the Machine Mart ones fit too if you have to have it now (well when the shops open)
PS it is a metal liner you have used not just another shonky SiP black plastic one?

Hi Sean. This is a learning curve for me. Yes, I've used a "shonky" SiP plastic one. I'm assuming that metal liners are available and that I can fit one to the machine? Is there something I can look for specifically?
