Problem with Welder.

Hi,
New to this forum and hoping for some advise. I have a SIP TopMig 195 Turbo with a Euro Torch conversion which was carried out professionally about 18 months ago. I was doing some bodywork repairs on my car when the torch stopped working. The welder is on but when you press the trigger on the torch nothing happens. I have taken the sides of the welder to see if anything obvious is looming but to no avail. The torch has also been stripped just to see if connectors are loose etc. Have loads of welding to do over the Christmas break (2 weeks off ) and no welder.
Any advise would be gratefully received.

Check all of the rocker switches are not half-way and functioning correctly.

That could be the problem with some of the Migmates but the Topmig's power selection is with a rotary switch & not a rocker switch. It's the power relay (clear plastic/black plastic thing) which is mounted on the chassis inside the side case, or the main PCB.
As a 'quick fix' you can remove the clear plastic cover on the relay & clean the contacts with some emmery paper.

not sure if this will help, but our old Migmate (I think) had a number of fuses inside and if one of them blows -- the symptoms you describe.

Modern machines may not have them or they may now be circuit breakers.

Thanks for all your advise and assistance. It turned out to be the circuit board. Picked the unit up yesterday from being repaired by a Welding Company. The cost was £50 for parts and labour. A tip from the owner of the store mentioned to see if this problem was a torch or board/welder problem was to remove the Euro torch and carefully put a length of mig wire into each end of the two holes (plastic/rubber collars where the prongs stick into). If the feed works the torch is likely to be faulty or if nothing happens (like mine) the board is likely to be at fault.
