Problem with Esab 1250 copperless wire

Hi all,
i've recently switched my wire to some Esab 1250 Aristorod copper free wire and can't get on with it it just keeps sticking to the tip! i'm not sure if the wire feed is slipping slightly and then it burns back to the tip or what, but if i increase the tension on the wire feed then as soon as it sticks it snarls the wire up down at the feed. its a Lincoln compact 220 and i never had a problem with my old sealey copper coated wire. is there anything i should change when switching to this wire? different type tip etc? oh i tryed changing the tip for a new one several times to no avail, and played around with wire speed again with no luck.

We used it for sometime, never had a problem with it that i recall, shouldn't require anything different. Tried blowing the torch/liner out? Spool fitted properly...?
The tension on the reel centre not too tight?

Could be bad winding so it isnt paying off correctly. Take it back and ask for a replacement.
I always preferred Copper coated. The copper is a lubricant that assists feeding.

Im told there is some kind of lubricant on the esab stuff.....?

it all seems fine on the reel side of things, i will try blowing the liner out tommorow as i haven't tryed that. a couple times it literally stopped mid-weld, and had say 10mm of wire still sticking out of the tip, but it has stuck to the tip inside the tip/ at the tip of the tip. gave it a tug with and it came free just seemed odd. might see if i can adjust where the wire goes into the liner from the wire feed so its closer and can't snarl up like it has been doing, then up the tension on the rollers? just seems odd why its a problem all of a sudden with the wire swap

well just an update, changed the liner, tip and shroud. turned out the tips i had been using were not the right ones, not sure if that will have made a difference or not but the new ones are alot thicker so presumably will not be affected by high heat so much, but anyway, seems ok now so its all good

been using esab 12.50 for over a year, had a couple of bad batches which were sent back and tested by esab and replaced free of charge
