Problem with Clarke 150 Turbo

Hi,
Just started to weld with new MIG and all was well until feed jammed at nozzle and nested up on the real.
I sorted that no problem and tried to start again - feeding wire fine and fan working so mains fuse is fine too but no arcing at all?
I checked contacts and they are adequate so I'm puzzled.

Is there a secondary fuse inside the housing which may have blown or a trip switch needing re-set?

Hmmm... Not aware of a secondary trip, have you got a good earth to the work piece?

Could thermal cutout have activated during the jam or would that cut the fan and feed too?

AFAIK the thermal cut out would stop the wire feed as well.
Check the tip is making good contact with the nozzle and then check the other end inside the machine in case it's loose.
Check the earth clamp connection as well. sometimes they can become loose or the wire may be broken inside the cable sheath.

If the thermal cutout trips then the only thing that still operates is the cooling fan.
In this case it's NOT the thermal cutout as the wire is still feeding.

After an hour I returned to have a go and it worked fine

Looks like it WAS the thermal cutout ?
but why would the thermal cut out trip because of the wire nesting, maybe the wire nesting bird had shorted sumat in there
did it look like the wire had blued in there?
