Look up HP cutting people's printers off remotely when they don't renew their Instant Ink subscription. We have a HP printer and have the HP instant ink account, we barely print anything so have the minimum subscription which is free and allows you 15 pages a month, they send you new free cartridges when the printer tells them it’s low
Just any inkjet printer that does not refuse to print if the cartridges have been refilled after registering as empty. I use a Canon Pixma because it was thrown as "free" in a deal for some AV gear, it has printed at least 15 reams of paper and still soldiers on. I buy black ink in 200ml bottles from a German company by the name of Octopus, its cheap, good quality ink and it takes me about 5 minutes to refill a cartridge from removal to refitting, €26.70 cheaper than €27 for a new OEM cartridge. No my hands don't get covered in ink, syringe with a needle included with ink order, disposable poly gloves from the petrol station.Need a new one, budget £100, then there’s the ink cost ,as that’s possibly increased more as you can’t always just buy black,of course I rarely use colour, with our old one I forget a cheap source on e bay.TIA.
No doubt they have the capability to do this but we’ve had it for must be over 5 years now, have always been on the free subscription and have gone over the 15 pages a month allowance a handful of times in that time so maybe paid them a total of tenner for excess pages. They keep sending cartridges when required. Even if they cut it off tomorrow we’ve had our monies worth 10 times over compared to the traditional buying the cartridges.Look up HP cutting people's printers off remotely when they don't renew their Instant Ink subscription.
For what it's worth, the worst two printers I ever owned was HP and Lexmark the best two were Brother, the Brother I have now, an all in one, I've had for 8 years without issue.Need a new one, budget £100, then there’s the ink cost ,as that’s possibly increased more as you can’t always just buy black,of course I rarely use colour, with our old one I forget a cheap source on e bay.TIA.
Useful thanks, which model pixma, what ink cartridges, are they single colour or colour all in one,do you poke the syringe in anywhere at the top?Just any inkjet printer that does not refuse to print if the cartridges have been refilled after registering as empty. The print head life is a "mileage may vary" parameter, I keep the printer in a cleanish area, I think perhaps 15 refills before I notice streaks of faintness that a nozzle clean does not remedy, some report less, very few report more than that.
External ink tanks are good, I have a plotter for CAD drawings and it is simple and cheap to housekeep and feed but there is a premium on seperate tank printers, no £100 tank printer exists, perhaps I will be educated on that assertion.
It's painful to read all of this, when I have a fully working, network capable Xerox 6600DN that you could have for your budget. Plenty of toner left, and compatible cartridges are very reasonable. It will want a waste tank before long, but I have a new one to go with it. You are not so far away, so you could come and see it in action.Useful thanks, which model pixma, what ink cartridges, are they single colour or colour all in one,do you poke the syringe in anywhere at the top?
Pixma 5151. Black seperate cartridge. Colour, cyan, magenta, yellow in the same cartridge. There is always a moulding spot underneath the label to locate where to pierce. A small drill bit, I use a 1mm drill in a pin chuck but a small cordless or even a bench drill would work, the plastic of the cartridge is not thick, a small piece of insul tape over the hole after.Useful thanks, which model pixma, what ink cartridges, are they single colour or colour all in one,do you poke the syringe in anywhere at the top?
If you are mostly or exclusively printing black then ajlelectronics probably has what you need.
I know it is, I once owned one. He said he wants to print mostly black.Nope, the 6600 is a full colour, 4 cartridge laser.
