preventing new trailer from rusting

good afternoon everyone,

I got a new trailer recently, its an agri tipper trailer, pretty much the same as this

its painted with 2pac paint

as its brand new and nice and clean is there anything I can put on the paint to prolong its life, not much point doing it at 5 years old when rust is breaking through.

I would like to give the chassis a good coating of something to prevent rust

I would think Waxoil. Best part of old lorry chassis was around the tipping ram area where the chassis was continually oiled by leaks and coated in dust.

Nothing is going to protect that from a farming environment.

Should have gone for the galv option from new.

As people have said will rust in the farm environment. With my cheap Chinese trailer 10 years old now very little rust on it all I do is:
1 never leave it full, the water/ muck will rust anything
2 when parked leave with a slope on the bed so no water sits in it.
3 leave tail down same reason as 2
4 park in windy position stops water sitting on it and drys it off
5 wash off heavy mud.
6 avoid putting stones/bricks/concrete as it damages the paint/metal. If you have to put ply in to protect the bed.
7 red oxide on any rust patches.

Basically keep it as clean as possible.

A fine spray of diesel will keep moisture at bay and will stop anything! from sticking to the paintwork, a simple wash after use, a spray each time works. my old man swears by it, he used a vicon varispreader spreading granular fertiliser that stuff rots anything ,that machine was sold 13 years later & left the farm looking like it was new..

Forgot to say they also did the same with two 10ton dung rotospreaders . A neighbour bought them in very good condition and they were at least 20+ years old.
