Presto taps.

I know the old stuff is good. Whats the new Presto gear like?

I have 2 drill indexes in 0.1mm increments up to 10mm and a fair few taps from new presto.

I'm not completely sold on the drills though that being said they have done everything I ask of them and haven't had to sharpen any yet, had them a year.

The taps have been fine too.

I don't think you would go wrong with that set.

I used to have a fair few of the older ones. Sherwood and Presto mainly, always made good clean threads and didnt need arms like hulk to drive in.
I gave them away by accident....
Sorted out a load of old / no longer needed tools for a mate and put a box of taps in the pile after using one.
Some of the newer hss stuff is apalling. You make pre-stripped threads and they take some turning to drive through

Yeah the Chinese seem to make excellent cheap carbide stuff but their has stuff leaves something to be desired.

Old Presto jobber drills are good, not impressed with the modern ones. Our engineers merchants have stopped selling them

I always thought jobber drills where like disposable drills as they are always packs of 10 cheap....
I've ever bought any decent brands like just use them for general abuse lol

Old or new I have hss presto taps from both eras and really cannot tell a single difference. Quality now as good as it was.
Got a box of presto hss 6.8mm drill bits not too long ago as well. Again can’t fault em. Seem just fine to me. Dormer are my favourite but I don’t mind presto at all.
