Pressing Clips

I'm trying to fathom a way of pressing these

We have 100-odd tonnes available to press em but i'm looking for ideas for the die and former. The bit im stuggling with is forming the two outer 'turn downs'. Anyone any bright ideas? There's loads to do, so ideally press in one operation. No nail hole required - just Hilti nail through the lot.

I'm not so familiar with press tools, but can you not make a male and female and just press?

Can you give some approx dimensions for the part and quantity, that's the governing factors to determine how you go about doing the job.

Look, I'm on me phone and it was a pain scrolling down 14 pages of pdf.

I'd probably make them in 2 ops depending on the quantity, form the edges down first then push down into a square form tool, you may need a spring to eject them from the tool, both ops could be made in the same tool so you stroke only once to do both ops

Looks amazingly like a Lindapter GF Grate Fast fixing. Can't you just use those instead or are sizes wrong.

Nah, they are non standard sizes. From 25x3 flat or somewhere near.

Seriously though, you could probably do it in one op with a fancy tool.... but a home made one, id say two ops. First bend the shallow angle, second form the deep bit. It will drag well mind, some nice hard stuff and plenty of oil will help matters, draw oil ideal.

As stormin says, they look like off the shelf parts, but thed depth is the odd one out i gather?

Hi Paul,
Personally i would go 3 operations and use the centre hole to pilot from to keep the component consistent.
if these are only for one job so low volume (100 or so) I would be tempted to make the form punches and dies in a laminated style. i.e. if the component is 25 wide i would make each punch and die out of 3 indentical laser cut blanks 10mm thick welded together in a non working area.
Keeps the tooling cheap rather than full blown production tooling.
