Preparing Galv for Powder Coating

Hi,

I have just had my gate frames galv`d. Looks very shiny but there are quiet a few run marks where the galv has drained through the holes. My idea is to get the powder coated but would like to get rid of the dross marks first.

What is the best way to do this? I was thinking a fine flap disc in the angle grinder, is that the best method? If so what discs would you recomend? Other ideas appreciated.

flap disc in the grinder is ok and also using a rough file in the hard to reach areas usually do the job, plenty of galv dust/fumes so remember to wear a mask and do it in a well ventilated area.

I normally clean any lumps off with a flap disc, then just generall smoothing with a DA sander.

Gentle touch is the key, if you get sparks, your through the galv.
