If you're making a mould then the first thing on the plug after the release agent should have been gelcoat, assuming that the plug had the desired finish before. If it didn't then the surface needed attention before making the mould

Yes you're dead right however I wanted to use my R/C plane as the plug so I covered it in plastic film to protect it, after the mould cured I simply pulled the plastic off. I then had to fill the dents etc... did I make more work for myself, maybe but then I didn't have the process of making a plug from scratch.

Its made of balsa wood and covered in pro-film, it would have pulled it off and possible wrecked the plane...

You can add gelcoat to smooth the mould out but it does need a wax additive to get it to cure. Then it could be sanded smooth then polished to make parts from

I am going to make a Carbon Fibre product. I have successfully made Carbon Fibre things before and they turned out pretty good..

Another vote for Panel wipe. Use two lint free wipes wipe on with one, wipe off with the other clean one

I just lost 4 gallon due to the can rusting never noticed as it was in a garage im rarely in

I had a can of std thinners like that.
I used some thinners, the next morning I went out and the can was stitting in a puddle of thinners.
I took a few photos of the can and complained, 1/2hr later someone from metalflake knocked on my
door and handed me a new can of thinners;-)

Had a tin of thinners in the shed for 6 years. Last year noticed it was empty and wanted to use it. Bought another tin. I give it a shake occasionally just to check its still full
