PPG and Max Meyer epoxy paint

Morning all

I'm working in Southampton at the moment, and Automotive paint supplies are only round the corner. They do these two primers (amongst a couple others) but has anyone used either of them? Or any others I should look at getting that they stock? It doesn't look like they do Lechler. Ive got a couple of tins of Plasgard 410 which we use on underground gas mains, but I have no idea if it'd be suitable. Anyone know if it'd be ok in automotive applications?

automotive paint supplies have been in business for a long time and have supplied me the best products and advice for over 20 years. Jane knows her products and is qualified to give top advice. PPG and max are both good quality and the only real difference is the price.

I had a chat with a bloke over there, and I'll pop over and get some epoxy a bit later. Seems very knowledgable and friendly. Hope I can add cheap to that list of qualities too!

PPG make Maxmeyer don't they? It all used to be under ICI at one time but I don't bother looking any more I just buy the paint and use it. link added.

I popped over there half hour ago. They are a really helpful bunch. They sold me a litre of black epoxy (tinted) and hardener. The tin says Selemix, which he says is as good as the others, just cheaper, and perfect for what I need it for. The bloke did say it was wet on wet, but surely if I want to topcoat it, I just give it a bit of a key and paint away? Or would I be best to get a rattle can of my choice of colour for the boot area?

If I need anything else, they'll get my business from now on.

I've used the PPG epoxy and it's ok but not as good as the Lechlar epoxy and was more expensive !!!

Yeah of course it will Nick, it adheres on virtually anything, put a drop on a piece of glass and try and get it off !!!

If they are in good nick without any pits I would just epoxy them, key up and go on with base mate

Seemed quite helpful and gave me two separate tints for the epoxy so I could use it for different colours.
