The first proper mountain bike I had was a Kona Cindercone (early 90's). At 47 years old, I can still keep up with the kids, but it won't be long and I'll need some assistance from an electric motor.I've just had to mansplain my guffaw to the wife!
I've just bought a new mountain bike, an e-bike, and it has.... SRAM... brakes and gears...
(I might add I'm 54, once a proper (none of this trail centre malarkey) mountain biker but age takes its toll and I'd like to get out again with mates that are younger, fitter and faster than I am.)
If I look too long at the price of decent e bikes I'll probably also need a pace maker.
