Power Supply to Clarke 150TE MIGs

Was about to buy one of these but the blurb says a min 15A power supply is required - which means I wont be able to use the 13A sockets in my garage.

How does everyone else manage with decent gear?
Does anyone use extension leads?

If the blurb is correct I may have to go for the 135TE or get an electrician to fix me a dedicated socket.

Hi,

I have a 150TE and although I've set up a 16A supply it will work on 13A, especially on the lower settings.

In fact, I believe it will only pop the plug fuse if it's used on maximum setting for several minutes, but I've not tried this for myself. You'd be using that setting for 5 - 6mm plate and that's a bit big for me!

A guy I worked with has the same set and he uses 13A fuses with an extra piece of 5A fuse wire soldered across the terminals and he reckons he's never blown a fuse...

but you'd do that at your own risk!

13 amp fuse

dont worry about it.They are saying 16amp socket to cover their backs. I'm running a Clarke 160 TE on a standard 13amp plug/socket and nothing has blown yet, although not had it on max amps for that long

Oh, this old chestnut again! I have run my Butters 211 (220A) on a 13A plug and it has only occasionally blown the fuse if I've run it on full power for extended periods. Stick a 13A plug on it, you'll be fine .
