Anyone recommend one? A quick scan seems to give a Bosch IXO (variable speed), and a couple of Ryobis (single speed, variable torque). Plus a load of no-name fleabay things.
What's the better option, vari speed or torque?
Cheers.
I've had a single speed Bosch IXO for a couple of years, pretty good as long as you don't try to overdo it. I may have to buy another as Mrs Robo keeps "borrowing" it to put screws in at the stable!
Hopefully Bosch have improved the design, my missus bought me an IXO for Christmas when they first came out and it failed miserably. The output shaft had a small circlip in a shallow undercut that kept popping off locking the gearbox up if you applied normal pressure to keep the bit in a screw. I lost my rag with it in the end and bounced it round the workshop, kept finding bits of it for weeks!
Wow, useless....We’re guessing that, like the Smartdriver, for normal household applications this’ll send around 25 fasteners home before it needs to recharge.
