are they fine enough for recirculating the air though or will they let powder through?
I can't really extract any dust here as it residential so was hoping for a fine filter that will catch 99%

Is this a job for a cyclone type separator rather than element filters? Or perhaps both

Hmm, to get the air flow i think would need a bank of cyclones or a very large one. Most small booths i seen have the round cartridge filters or the flat panel filters, i think the round ones give more surface area so clog slower, but i guess they also cost more.
Trying to find powder particle size, only info i can see is it ranges from 1 to 40uM which means a G4 or maybe G3 filter will work as they go down to 1uM supposedly. The panels listed by stuvy above are G3 and pretty cheap so might go that way. Its a 1m x 1m booth so a 24" x 24" panel would fit.

Yeah i know its a messy process but i really want to minimise mess, maybe go with one of the panel filters to start and if not enough i can add a post-filter as well.
At present i just have 10mm of filter blanket on inlet and 10mm on outlet - this works fairly well so a proper panel should be better, maybe have a pre-filter layer of the stuff i have now to catch the worst, can be changed easy/cheap.

Hmm, anyone know about fans?
I have a centrifugal blower here, used to be a woodwork chip collector.
It has 4" inlet and 5" outlet flanges and 750W motor.
My thoughts are to have a 24" x 20" G4 filter panel mounted at the rear of the cabinet, towards the top corner, maybe at a 45degree angle.
Vent out the side panel, 4" pipe up to the extract mounted above on roof supports, then 5" duct to the outside maybe, its about a 10' run.
Anyone see if there is any glaring problems in my thoughts, I know its all guesswork, no flow data, no pressure drop calcs etc but should work i think, the blower has a pretty fierce suction and flow, that i do know

Yes that was why i thought to put the filter up off the floor of the booth, heavier stuff will settle before it hits the filter.
Currently it just lands on the floor
