Hybrid car needs plugging in know a fixed mains charger will be quicker but has a 13a 240v house cable supplied and also a 32a 240v adapter cable in the boot.
If a 32a socket was fitted near the house would it charge quicker?

So car should recharge in half ( or less ) time then on the 13Amp socket.

Assume the transformer bit in the middle can work out which cable is being used. It has a socket that locks the cable back to the supply onto it.

what size battery is it? and what size charger is it in the car?

hybrid so probably not a massive in car charger - so it could only take 3kw max anyway


gf has a hybrid golf, it has an 8kwh battery and 3kw max charge rate... only takes about 2hours to charge from flat (because even when it's flat on the gauge it's not really flat, it stops using the battery before it gets too low to keep it healthy)


I have a 21kw 3 phase charger at work, had a few cars plugged into it, nothing has been able to take 21kw, think 14kw is the most I've seen


all the massive kw chargers you see are DC chargers, not AC chargers.... DC chargers the electronics are in the charger you plug into, AC charger the electronics are in the car... and you don;t want to lug big heavy chargers everywhere you drive if you'll handle ever use it

So those rapid chargers are all DC won't be going there for home charging I don't think.
Think the battery might be 17kw, a built-in for home ome charger is claiming around 2.25hrs for a full charge, 13a house plug taking 6.5hrs so by the sounds of the replies a 32a blue plug charger might take around 2.5-3hrs.
Just need to get an install cost for each.

Think the battery might be 17kw, a built-in for home ome charger is claiming around 2.25hrs for a full charge, 13a house plug taking 6.5hrs so by the sounds of the replies a 32a blue plug charger might take around 2.5-3hrs.

I think most places will try to have your pants down installing a charger so it's worth shopping around

If you have the 32amp plug charger, it's probably much cheaper to just use that

for my gf car we use the 12amp plug charger...bought one with a long lead, charger is plugged in the garage, car end sticks out under the garage door
