pondering about a 'different' forge

just out of curiosity after watching a few of doubleboost's videos, and remembering a few from Colin furze, if a turbine jet made from a small car turbo was mounted on a stand and run off propane, it could be used to heat metal quickly? Similar to oxy propane in theory as after all it is just propane injected into the combustion chamber with pressurised air generated from the turbine, and generates a lot of heat out the exhaust. Obviosuly it wont be a defined flame but it will hold a lot of heat for larger areas and forging?

plus it sounds cool, even if they aren't that efficient

It would be very cool, but as someone who bashes a fair bit of hot metal, I wouldn't want to work with a jet engine next to me, the noise would be brain melting!

Don't get me wrong, I love the noise they make too, and I'd love to build a bicycle with a pulse jet...I just don't think I could concentrate on what I was supposed to be doing with one going off right next to me! Now, If it was stood on its end, and a small ring atteched, it might just make an excellent hob for boiling the kettle when I want a brew!

The problem with these from a longevity point of view is the don't last long.

They spin too fast for the bearings to cope and the get too hot overheating the bearings. You would need some serious kit to get one to work on a long term basis.

And the noise they sound good on a video when you can turn the volume down.

meanwhile back in reality, the alcosa chip furnaces are basically a propane burner, with a air pump and two control valves + a flame failure device for safety.
Given that they come up now and again for fairly cheap, it might be as easy to just get one as try to build your own from bits...

moisture trap in line and connect output of comp to the oxy input on my cutting torch? Could just run a quick release pipe in order to be able to pack it all a way

would be a lot cheaper than buying oxy, anyone see any reason why it wouldn't work?

It would be an AIR supply with only 20% Oxygen in it.

And quite a lot of schoolchildren learned to braze and do light forge on air/propane or ng setups. It won't be hot enough to weld with, but for a forge or general jobbing its fine.
The reason not to use a compressor for one is the air forge pumps are designed for low pressure high volume operation, whereas a compressor is relatively the opposite. It won't supply the volume to support a gas air torch properly I would guess.
The alcosa pumps are just concentric vane pumps, but the vane is a good 10-15cm deep to get the flow rate. I know this because I started one up without checking it was free first and heard a bang as the vanes sheared where they were glued the housing with corrosion... So I have a spare gas air forge sans airpump in the scrap pile
