Pond Cover

I've just finished making this to stop my 2-year old falling in the pond. It's my first major project. I used 25mm box section and 25mm weldmesh. It's hinged in the middle to allow access to the fish and pump. Then padlocked!
Hardest part was getting the angles right - I built the pond about 10 years ago and none of the angles were right then!
I painted it with green hammerite - used 6 cans! If I had to do another one I would seriously consider powder coating!

Paint rollers are quite good for painting weldmesh.

but what if the herons have access to key cutting technology.
Seriously, safety around kids that age is paramount, they have more brain power to get into trouble than to get out of it.
Watch out for him/her whipping the knobs off your stereo.
