Polishing Stainless Steel Cooker Hood?

Any tips on how to get a stainless steel cooker hood to a polished finish?
I tried some Autosol metal polish which was a mistake and ended up with a matt type finish on the polished area.

Not tried it myself, but I have been told that wiping it over with baby oil is the best way to get it shiny and take off finger prints. This was from the bloke who installed mine.

autosol should polish stainless ,,, how shiny is it ,,, or how shiny do you want it to be ,, Duraglit would be finer then you can start on very fine polishes , car polish even , right the way to jewelers rouge .
but a soft cloth and autosol gets a fine finish .

You will regret that, itll show every mark. Normal hoods are bad enough

Sounds like you might have been polishing a laquered finish

As above for cleaning removing marks baby oil - for satin type grained finish use scotch brite - difficult to get a good even finish though

Whilst it won’t improve the level of the original finish, it certainly restores it back to what it was.

I use it on both the extraction hood and oven doors and it deals with fingerprint, general cooking stains etc with no problem.
