Polish car Breakers, need a Polonez FSO G box

I have been looking for a polonez FSO or Peugeot 504 gear box, no luck in the UK so now looking over in Polamd and finding it difficult to source one still.

anyone point to me a breaker or any supplies please.

Seem to remember that in one episode of Wheeler Dealers Ed China obtained a steering box from Poland, you could try contacting him via his Grease Junkie website - he may be able to point you in the right direction.

Think about it what other vehicle uses a retro fitted 1.9 td pug engine and is 4 wheel drive you used to own one ??

suzuki SJ lots of stuff about for them as transfer box is separate

Mr fuzzy, spotted that one but wrong engine.

Octo, i have been there and done that in the past in my off road SJ`s, i used a LDV pilot G box, good but gearing is to low.

Adaptors are stupid money at over £400.

I could make one i guess but its a lot of work to bet it correct, if i can get a gear box to fit it will save alot of faffing, no big rush so worth the hunt.
I have emailed some Polish bteaker from Alibaba website so see what i get back.

you mean the ratios in the intermediate gears are too low top gear is 1.1 diff controls overhall ratio

It's a R380 so if ratios not suitable them easy to "upgrade" with parts from one of the many other vehicles (Range Rover / Discovery, TVR, Morgan, numerous V8 kit cars etc)

AFAIK 504 bellhousing different fitment - my Mahindra has a 504 2.1 diesel and 1.9 won't fit according to everybody I've asked ! That means you'd have to source a 504 1.9 version and suspect they are rare.

504 box was fitted to the original 2.1 pug engine not the 1.9

I have been told the 504 will fit the 1.9TD, i will go back and double check with them, Most folk say use the Polonez though.

That is what I've been told as well although you can swop bits around to allow 2.3 & 2.5 lumps to fit. I've got a spare 505 2.3 and look like that is same belhousing leaving possibly flywheel / clutch that have to be changed.
BTW when fitting a 2.5 turbo in place of a 2.5na on a Mahindra you have to modify the bellhousing as turbo fouls starter. It might be the same with the 1.9 gearbox when 1.9 turbo fitted so best double check. Hate to find you import a FSO gearbox only to discover it is only suitable for the 1.9na version of the engine !

Thanks for them head up chaps, i will double check the turbo and a RWD G box.
If need be i will go LDV again, when i did this conversion to my SJ i found the props were the same diameter are easy to make the 6 inch g=t Box prop, balanced by hand and rack of the eye
The LDV has a crawler 1st gear but not low enough for 2nd to set off. top speed was 60mph, that was MAX aswell. I will try out all the gearing in my calc i have to see what the gearing will be like as i will be running 33 inch tyres to get a better top speed aswell, dont want high speeds but a comfortable one without revving its **** off.

I dont mind using an Suzuki SJ gear box as i will be using the running gear with T box from one. Some body i read has done it with the 1.9TD engine and LDV pilot bell housing and welded a plate to adapt them to the SJ gear box. No rush just dont want to waist cash i have little of as is lol.

I know of a Polonez Auto in a breakers yard close to me, unsure if there is much left of it but I can gladly check it out if you still need the box?

I have been told i need the FSO Polonez RWD petrol gear box to match to the Pug 1.9 enigne now, getting to much info its all going tits up, i am chatting to a chap that has got a Pug 1.9TD engine and bell housing and matched it to a Suzuki SJ G box. Going to pop over when i can and see how he has done it, this way i will have spares needed at hand. If thats a big ball ache to do then i will go LDV Pilot G box again. its not going to be a serious day car, or off roader so it will meet in the middle for road and off road work, can always get a rock lobster fitted aswell and have 3 g box then.
