hi, Im new to the forum and new to my new mig gas/gasless welder. I just picked up a Weldline welder here in New Zealand. Dont see them mentioned anywhere and cant seem to find any information on the web at all about them. The Weldline website seems to just describe torches and other accessories but not the actual unit.
Anyway, the instructions it has come with are sparse. I havent got my gas bottle yet so wanted to just give it a try with some gasless wire I already had. There were no terminals visible so I opened up the sides of the machine. I could see nothing that resembled a + or - terminal like i have seen in most in photos when explaining switching polarity. I did find where the torch cable attaches in the machine to a hole in a thick plate. On the other side of the plate is another hole with a + sticker next to it (which makes me believe the torch is currently on a negative terminal?). So, I could switch that to positive if need be, but the ground doesnt look like it has a place to swapped to as it looks permanently attached. Does this make any sense? Is switching polarity posible by just switching the location of the torch cable? I will try to take some photos soon to explain better but thought I would ask if anyone had any info on this type of welder.
I did try to do a couple quick welds with the gasless wire in the current configuration and they turned out pretty well except for some splatter and brownish dust but I didnt spend a lot of time dialing in any settings yet until i try to understand how the machine is actually set up.
This forum looks like a great place. Appreciate the help in advance.
