pointers please guys

pointers about Manual Metal Arc Welding, finished me test bit for me mig welding so have to start on MMA now, just want a few pointers :-??

please be gentle, its a lot dam harder than mig, its trying to be consistant with it thats testing me at the min. :-ss :-ss

With all the spatter, i'd say your arc length is a bit long or the power is a bit high.

The root weld is almost there, but you didn't allow the eye (the little hole that appears just in front of the weld) to open enough apart from the bit on the left where it was allowed to open to much. If the eye is starting to open too much don't pull your rod away from the weld pool as this will increase the problem, shorten the arc this should allow the eye to close/cool.

I agree with the others provided your using an average amps for the material/joint then arc length seems to be your problem.

The last 2 photos are much better just practise, practise and more practise.

What amps, material size and prep are you using, plus are you using your other hand to steady the rod while welding?
