Plumbers question can you enter a horizontal soil stack on the side

Ok got a bit of question I've got a soil stack horizontal (with correct fall) i need to have a 40mm shower enter down stream of 2 toilets there not any hight to enter the soil stack on the top so entry is going to have to be entered on the side is this ok ? Or are there going to be problems entering with the toilet stuff catching on the pipe entering ?

The shower pipe should not enter the 4" soil pipe. The connection would normally be made with a strap-on boss and the most extreme part of that is flush with the ID of the main pipe.

If the soil pipe is spaced off the wall with standard brackets, it may be very tight for space to put a boss on the wall side.

What i done with mine is got a welded flange but just put the waste pipe in so there was nothing poking further than the thickness of the 4" pipe...i think the method is frowned upon but needs must and i think it keeps the 4" swilled through so it was a goer in my gaff.

its not advisable as the first place any back up is going to be is pushed towards the shower make sure its dead center of the pipe and not below center dont do it with 3" soil pipe

can you enter lower down the soil pipe elsewhere as that would be the better place

but if you need to do keep the insert into the boss strap bung small and stubby and fit a strap around it to hold the pipe in as well you dont want that pipe coming back out

wouldnt fancy it going in to the side, when all the crappy water goes by some of it will go in to the pipe to shower and make it gurgle in the trap then draw air in

As @brightspark says, if the pipe is covered by the toilet water then likely to pull the trap water out. An air admittance valve should prevent that.

ive had a thought i can drill through the wall 110 t in it and pipe the shower to that bit more work but the t will stop the **** coving the pipe and even give more slope to the 110mm pipe t

If you have the space for a tee, try to find a non-concentric (offset) 110mm to 40mm reducer, so the shower can enter as high up the 110mm pipe as possible.

Again, if there is space, a 45 degree tee in the direction of flow, with a 45 degree bend in it will reduce the chances of the toilet going where it should not.

It is possible to buy shower traps with a non-return valve built in for belt and braces.

As gaz said can you come out under the soil pipe and run along into the vertical stack with a boss? Saves any siphoning/backflow problems.

was allready done mid morning today i cut a 110 hole in the wall a lenth of pipe and a 110 mm to 40mm adaptor plate

there is already a vent pipe at the end of the stack so im assuming that should be enought as the amount of water passing the 110 hole i would dought would be enought to pull the water out of a trap in a shower but if so i will have to add a air valve as well
